Sinethemba Youth Development Centre

Sinethemba means “WE HAVE HOPE” and that we do. Concerned about the future of children and youth at risk in Knysna, particularly, street children in town, Sinethemba was established in 2003 and has been set up to address this issue. Sinethemba is a registered Non-profitable Organisation and Designated Child Protection Organisation providing day-time shelter to children living and working on the streets, out of school youth, school drop-outs and abused and neglected children. The Day-time Drop-in Centre is situated in Khayalethu, opposite the Percy Mdala High School, operates Monday to Friday. The Centre is run by a team of inter-denominational qualified permanent staff of five and local qualified and international volunteers. It has through various “once-off” donations by local and some overseas benefactors, acquired the necessary capital assets and equipment needed.
Vision: To provide development opportunities and self-sufficiency through training to children and youth at risk and their families.
Mission: Children and youth at risk and their families to become responsible, self-reliant and participating citizens through well-structured programs.
